McCain's Health Care Solution: Pure Imagination

It would be almost comical how completely out of touch Republicans are with what is going on in this country, almost comical if it weren't for how serious and sad these issues are. One of McCain's top advisers on health care said the other day that there is no such thing as uninsured Americans. His logic? If you are poor and without insurance and have to go to the emergency room, the tax payers foot the bill! So apparently no one needs insurance because they have the emergency room to look forward to! Ow, my side hurts, oh well, no insurance, I'll just have to wait to see if my appendix bursts so my life can be in danger enough to get free health care in the emergency room! That's the McCain health care plan! We should just pretend there are no uninsured Americans, and everything is fixed! *Poof!* Look what this asshole said:
"So I have a solution. And it will cost not one thin dime," Mr. Goodman said. "The next president of the United States should sign an executive order requiring the Census Bureau to cease and desist from describing any American – even illegal aliens – as uninsured. Instead, the bureau should categorize people according to the likely source of payment should they need care.

"So, there you have it. Voila! Problem solved."
Voila! Oh, and where does the money for these magical last minute lifesaving treatments come from? Taxpayers. This guy is a top adviser to McCain on health care, and he doesn't even understand the basics. If we want to drastically drive down health care costs in this country the first thing we should do is expand preventative care. Treat the problems when they are still minor, and we won't have to try to fix them in the emergency room later for 10 times the cost. This isn't rocket science, this is as basic as it comes. And yet McCain's people obviously think preventative care doesn't matter, and that we should rely on people almost dying before getting treated in expensive emergency rooms on taxpayer dollars. Voila! Problem solved? Are you insane???!

Completely out of touch. It reminds you of how we are supposedly "a nation of whiners", facing a "psychological recession". And this isn't just about a quote, you can see how out of touch he is through his policies. His tax policies, his energy policies, his social service policies, his health care policies. All of them screw over average Americans, while helping the rich and corporations. End of story. It is so blatantly obvious who McCain's base is, who he cares about and who he works for, yet those getting their information through the media haven't a clue, because they never put this kind of thing in context. It's shameful.

But that's McCain for you. His policies aren't policies, they aren't actual solutions, they are pure imagination. Click your heels together and pretend you have health care, or pretend offshore drilling will do anything to lower you gas prices, or pretend all those tax cuts for the rich will somehow help you in some backwards way, as if the rich pay that shit forward. My friends, it is pure imagination:

Update: Check out a good response to McCain's advisor's position on health insurance.
