Q: Give me a number, give me a specific number where do you move from middle class to rich? Is it 100 thousand, is it 50 thousand, 2 hundred? How does anybody know if we don't know what the standards are?Yes, really. When asked to pinpoint the dividing line between middle class and rich, he picked 5 million dollars per year. And no, he wasn't joking, that was his final answer, and he was serious when he prefaced it with saying he was talking about yearly income. 5 million dollars. Yes, when you are worth $100 million and have 10 houses (most of them on the beach), I suppose only $5 million a year does seem pretty middle class, especially when your friends are undoubtedly all far from "middle class" as well. 5 million dollars. Yes Americans, according to McCain, people who make just $4 million a year, or $4.99 million a year, are middle class. $3 million is firmly middle class. I guess those bums who only make $1 million a year are "lower middle class". And those pathetic pieces of scum who make even less, you know, those untouchables who make, say, $500,000 a year, well let's not even talk about those people, they are like the lower lower class, you know, just like over 99% of Americans. Completely untouchable. No, actually, those aren't who are untouchable in McCain's American, this gives you an idea of who is really untouchable:
John Mccain: So — so I think if you're just talking about income, how about 5 million.
"I don't want to take any money from the rich."Yes, he really said that. He doesn't believe in taxing money from the rich, he doesn't believe in the redistribution of wealth, and yes, this means taxes. He never says anything about not wanting taxes for the lower and middle class, but he sure took a stand on taxes on the rich! Oh, and how are we supposed to pay for his incredibly expensive war in Iraq? How are we going to repair our crumbling infrastructure? How will we fix our health care and education systems? Here are the answers, in order: we'll continue it no matter how much it costs, bridges in the US and the people who are stuck on them when they collapse can just suck it up, and we aren't even going to try to fix health care or education. Hell, no money for it, let alone the will, since we only want to make sure we don't take any money from the rich (god forbid they have to go from 10 houses to 9!!
Somehow I can picture Jesus screaming obscenities at the TV while watching this. I wish religious people would start paying attention to what Jesus was all about, because the redistribution of wealth was just the tip of his socialist iceberg.
In other faith forum news, McCain also had to have set a world record (Phelps style) for saying "my friends" in an hour. (He also annihilated his old world record on the "I was a POW!" front) There is a quote, I don't remember where it is from, but it went something like "people who feel the need to constantly address people as 'my friends' are typically not your friends". I think the original quote was better, but that is the gist, and I think of it every time he says it, which is often. No McCain, you aren't my friend. Do you want a friend? Are you lonely? You seem to be really concerned with having friends? Is that why you are so bitter that Obama has so many friends? Are you jealous of his friends? Is that what all this "celebrity" nonsense is? Is it just that you have no real friends, just people who grudgingly put up with you because your party had nothing better to offer? I'd almost feel sorry for you if you weren't the kind of out of touch, elitist bastard who thinks middle class is making $5,000,000 a year and only feels empathy for millionaires who want to avoid paying taxes.
