Good News For The News

I wrote earlier today about how the media needs to start doing its job, and I pointed to a recent article by CNN's Jack Cafferty as possibly a hopeful sign that the media's blind love affair with McCain is finally coming to an end. Is it coming to an end? I'm certainly not holding my breath, but one can hope. So what can be done about it? Well, there seem to be two choices:

One, hope the media changes, or

Two, change the media. This blog is about the latter, because today Keith Olbermann let us in the blogosphere in on a little secret: Rachel Maddow is getting her own show on MSNBC!

This is great news, because now in the traditional media we have two voices that can be counted on to give us the truth, and not sugarcoat or dumb down reality either out of journalistic laziness or desire to see the Republicans maintain power. I think the other news channels need to get with the program and either start doing a better job or start upgrading "the talent", because MSNBC was already kicking their asses in reporting, and now it isn't even a contest.

Congratulations Rachel! We all look forward to you new show! Make us proud!

According to Keith Olbermann her show will be in the 9pm time slot currently occupied by Dan Abrams starting September 8th. What's happening to him? Who knows? Hopefully he will replace that hack Joe Scarborough.
