Charlton Heston Is Dead

Last night former NRA president Charlton Heston died, age 84.

*pries his rifle from his cold dead hands*

Hey, someone had to say it. He knew no decency, shamelessly holding an NRA convention in Flint, Michigan only 8 months after a six year old was shot and killed by a classmate. At that convention he first uttered perhaps his most famous words, claiming that then presidential candidate Al Gore would have to take his rifle from his "cold dead hands".

So good riddance Charlton, my only regret is that the cosmos doesn't contain enough irony that you could have been shot.

You don't like it when criminals shoot people. But, you wish one had shot Heston. The cosmos may be short on irony because you are using it all.

I'm just saying that the irony would be fitting if he had went out that way, rather than from illness. He supports unfettered access to firearms, so it would be quite ironic if that came back to bite him in the ass, like it has done to so many others.

Either way he would have died when he did. I never wished death on him earlier than he was slated to go, I just said it would have been fitting for a little more irony in his death when it happened. It would be the same as if a drug dealer OD'd on his own wares. Irony, full circle.
